Field of Study
Electrical and electronics engineers design, develop, test, and supervise the manufacture of electrical and electronic equipment. Some of this equipment includes broadcast and communications systems; electric motors, machinery controls, lighting, and wiring in buildings, automobiles, aircraft, and radar and navigation systems; and power generating, controlling, and transmission devices used by electric utilities. Many electrical and electronics engineers also work in areas closely related to computers.
What is it all about
The Workplace
The workplaces of electrical engineers are just as varied as the types of work they do. Electrical engineers may be found in the pristine lab environment of a fabrication plant, the offices of a consulting firm or on site at a mine. During their working life, electrical engineers may find themselves supervising a wide range of individuals including scientists, electricians, computer programmers and other engineers.
Job Prospects:
The power sector in India is experiencing enormous growth. The power requirement for our country is to be doubled within another five years. Most of the multinational giants such as Larsen & Toubro and ASEA Brown Bovery have already shifted their focus towards investing in the power sector. The Central Government is also analyzing ways and means to privatize the power sector. Naturally, the demand for Electrical Engineers will grow along with the power sector. This is an area where Electrical Engineers alone will be preferred.Electrical and Electronics Engineering curriculum covers all aspects of electrical engineering, hardware design, and software development. Software and graphical depiction of concepts have eased the learning process.
